Is Mineral Makeup Good For Dry Skin Types?

Posted on July 31, 2009

Many women have decided to try the new mineral makeup products that are on the market. These products are becoming more and more popular. Women of all skin tones, and skin types have tried and liked these products. It is difficult for women, however, who have dry skin to find the right products.

In fact, some women who suffer from dry skin, do not like mineral makeups. This doesn’t mean that mineral products aren’t for women with dry skin, though. It does mean that these women, may need to apply different approaches than other without dry skin. Having dry skin, simply means that it doesn’t hold moisture well.

Women with dry skin can find better results with mineral makeup, if they add moisture to their skin. Using moisturizers, is a good way to allow dry skin to hold minerals better. Products that include, either jojoba or apricot, are great moisturizers. Those, who experience dry skin, need to apply moisture on a daily basis.

Our skin’s primary job is to protect our bodies from infection. Particularly dry skin, often has to work a little harder. The sun’s rays tend to give this skin type, an even rougher appearance. Since most mineral makeups include UV protection, this is a plus for those with dry skin. It allows your foundation to do some of the work the skin does naturally. At the same time, minerals help the skin not appear chapped.

There is another benefit of using mineral makeup, for women with dry skin. Mineral makeups tend to be inorganic. This means, they prevent, the growth of bacteria on the skin. In this way, these makeups, not only protect the skin, but also boosts its health. Mineral makeups are best applied with the use of a large brush.

The brush application, doesn’t just help the overall look of the face. It also ensures the decrease of bacteria, as well. Traditional makeup foundations, generally encourage women to use sponge applications. This can be a process that produces bacteria, which eventually gets placed on the skin. So, in terms of hygiene mineral makeup foundations, are better.
